In 2017 I became entranced with the Northern Lights. I had never seen them before and became determined that I would and soon. It took over a year of planning (and saving on my meager salary) but In February of 2019 I ventured to the Lofoten Islands, a sparsely populated archipelago in Norway above the arctic circle. This photo was and still is one of my favorites of that trip. With another photographer I met the day before, we ventured to this frozen lake to wait for the northern lights. I still remember how it felt as the lights surged across the sky, seemingly from behind the clouds and over our heads. It was one of the biggest displays of this natural phenomenon I had ever seen, and this photo is a testament to that incredible night.
