In 2017 I decided I needed to photograph the Northern Lights. You can blame Instagram for that, because my feed became full of incredible Aurora photographs. It took over a year of planning and saving, and in February 2019 I flew to Norway. Specifically, the Lofoten Islands, a sparsely populated archipelago in Norway a few miles above the arctic circle. This photo is my favorite from that trip. With another photographer I met the day before, we ventured to a frozen lake late at night to wait for the northern lights. I still remember how it felt as the lights surged across the sky overhead. It was one of the biggest displays of this natural phenomenon I have ever seen, and this photo is a testament to that incredible night and memory.
