One of the greatest days of my life was hiking up to this point to watch a new volcano explode for hours less than a 2,000 feet away from me. The combination of the endless roar and the feeling of the heat every time the lava poured out in front of me was mesmerizing. It is like watching a massive version of a bonfire. It is something I think about quite often and dream of seeing again.
